Hiring a part-time SDR

A part-time SDR is one person who works your accounts for a set number of hours a week. You choose the targets and the message. They send, call and book. This is the structure closest to a normal hire, without the full-time cost.

What the hours buy

Provider guides describe a part-time rep as about 15 to 25 hours a week (GigRadar), and one provider's pages quote about $4,000 to $5,000 a month plus commission (Activated Scale). Those hours are a fraction of a 40-hour week, so a full-time rep's meeting numbers do not carry over. Ask for a target based on the actual hours.

What you must supply

A part-time rep rarely brings a manager, so coaching comes from you. Without it, results can plateau.

Who it suits

Companies that have a defined buyer and someone able to manage a rep. If you do not, a managed pod takes that work on. If outbound is unproven, read the seed and Series A page first.

Checking the engagement

Use the questions to ask, and put a clear definition of a qualified meeting in the contract.

If you would rather not manage the rep yourself, compare a shared or agency SDR, where the agency runs the process.
