A fractional SDR team
One part-time rep caps your volume by their hours. A team adds reps, which adds output and complexity. This page covers when that step makes sense and what changes.
Signs one rep is not enough
- The rep is on target but the lists are not exhausted and your sales team has room to take more meetings.
- You want phone and email, or two buyer groups, worked by different people.
- You depend on one person and a departure would stop outbound.
A single hire's departure matters: the Bridge Group reports average SDR tenure of about 1.9 years, which is for full-time reps but shows how often these seats turn over.
How to split the work
- By buyer: one rep per segment, so each learns a different message.
- By channel: one on calls, one on email and LinkedIn. Channel specialists need a shared view of each account.
- By region or time zone, where coverage matters.
Avoid splitting one list between two reps who both email the same companies. Agree an account owner for each target.
What changes with a team
- A lead. Someone has to coach, check messages and balance lists. That is you, a provider's manager or a fractional SDR manager.
- Reporting. You need results per rep as well as in total.
- Handoffs. Define what a rep does when a prospect replies, and who takes the meeting.
- Cost. More hours at the rates in the cost guide, plus any manager. Providers that sell a team as a program usually call it a managed pod.
Buying a team from one provider or several
One provider gives one process and one contract. Several give redundancy but make comparisons harder. For a first team, one provider is simpler.

FAQ
How many reps make a team?
Two or more. The right number depends on your lists and how many meetings your sales team can take.
Do I need a manager for two reps?
You need someone who coaches both and reviews results. It can be you if you have time.
Is a team better than one rep?
Only if one rep is the limit. If targeting or messaging is the problem, more reps repeat it.
