Onboarding a fractional SDR in the first 30 days

In a fractional engagement, most of the first month depends on you. The rep can only start when they know who to contact and what to say. This is the buyer-side list; for the outbound plan itself, see the first-90-days plan.

Vendor onboarding guides give similar outlines, with day counts that differ by source:

These are vendor frameworks (Cleverly, Activated Scale) and are not measured standards. Ask your provider for its own plan and hold it to that.

Keep a tight feedback loop

Judge at the right time

One vendor argues the first 30 days are calibration, not conversion, and that results should be judged at 60 to 90 days. That is a vendor view, but it is consistent with the three-month minimum terms many providers set. Agree before you start what you will look at on day 30 (activity, reply quality, list fit) and what you will look at on day 90 (held and accepted meetings). See KPIs.

FAQ

How soon will meetings start?

Providers advertise weeks. The first meetings usually come after intake and a soft launch, so ask your provider for its own timeline and confirm it in writing.

What slows onboarding most?

A vague ICP and slow copy approval. Both are in your hands.

Do I need to give the rep a script?

You need approved messaging and answers to common objections. A rigid script is optional and usually worse than guidelines the rep can adapt.
